Q: What is a typical day like for a teacher at your school?
A: A typical day for a teacher starts at 8 AM with a mug of coffee and class preparation. Classes start at 8:30 AM, and then we break for lunch at 12 PM. Most teachers enjoy eating at MICA’s cafeteria, which provides healthy and delicious meals. After lunch, classes resume at 1 PM and students are dismissed at 3:30 PM. During 3:30 to 5 PM, teachers continue to work on lesson plans and class preparation.

Q: What do students like the most about your school?
A: Our students enjoy our art classes the most and our current art teacher is really hands-on and the students love his art challenges and the opportunity to get dirty. All of our students love our teachers and our teachers have become mentors and advisors to them.

Q: How does your school help teachers develop professional skills?
A: MICA provides teachers with skill-building workshops, which are often held once a month. We have team-building workshops, software workshops, and brainstorming workshops to help our teachers develop marketable, professional skills. We also invest in our teachers and provide free, unlimited access to online college-level courses to encourage continuing education.
