Job Description

1. Role and Responsibilities:

MICA International Scholars, an internationally accredited school, is seeking a middle school ELL teacher. As an ELL teacher, you will be expected to teach English language skills such as grammar, reading, writing, and speaking. Along with teaching ELL, teachers must also teach IT basics such as typing, internet safety, on and offline software programs, and other computer-related basics such as Photoshop or video/animation production (based on the teacher's experience).


ELL Responsibilities (13 Hours/25 Hours)

  • Teach middle school students grammar, reading, writing, and speaking

  • Serve as a resource to classroom teachers to help ELL students achieve academically in the classroom

  • Use language teaching strategies to increase English proficiency for students who speak a language other than English at home

  • Evaluate the language needs of students whose families speak a language other than English at home and recommend appropriate language support

  • Administer a language screener to students for whom a language barrier is impeding their academic success

  • Communicate language needs and progress of the ELLs with classroom teachers, administrators and families

  • Create individual language goals for students who benefit from language support


IT Responsibilities (12 Hours/25 hours)

  • Teach upper elementary to middle school students

  • Teach basic computer skills such as typing, online safety

  • Familiarize students with Google Classroom and software such as Microsoft Word and PowerPoint

  • Teach other computer programs that you are comfortable with, such as PhotoShop, Illustrator, Premiere/Movie programs


2. Candidate Qualifications

Foreigners (E-2, F-2, F-4, F-5, and F-6 Visa Holders) and Korean Citizens

  • Candidates must hold a minimum of a bachelor degree from an accredited university and have their apostilled diploma on hand

  • Candidates must hold a federal level background check with a federal level apostille

  • Candidates must be able to teach classes in fluent English

  • Candidates must be able to submit a 50-minute mock lesson plan for IT students (Grade 4 or 7)



  • Candidates with teaching licenses are preferred

  • Candidates with previous teaching experience at international schools are preferred

  • Candidates who are hard-working and able to adapt to a fast-paced school environment are preferred


3. Job Overview

  • Working Hours: M-F: 7:40 AM-4:40 PM
  • Lunch Time: 11:45 AM-12:40 PM
  • Teaching Hours: 25 hours per week
  • Class Length: 45 min/class
  • Students per Class: 8-12 Students
  • Grade Level: Grade 4-8


4. Salary

Negotiable, based on experience and qualifications

Insurance and Financial: Insurance and pension will be matched by the employer

Contract Completion Bonus: Provided upon completion of contract

Vacation: Paid, 8 Weeks+ including Korean National holidays and American holidays

  • Lunar New Year (1 week), Spring Break (1 week) + break in May + Easter break (1 day), Summer Vacation (3 weeks), Thanksgiving Break (2 days), Chuseok (1week), Winter Vacation (3 weeks)

Housing: Provided housing or housing allowance (for E-2 and F-visa holders or candidates who have lived in the U.S. and/or Canada for over 10 years)

Transitioning from elementary to middle school, students are supported by professional educators and staff who tailor the curriculum based on their interests, academic skills, and standardized assessments. 3.  Based on the US Common Core State Standards, MICA strives to improve high school student learning using current teaching methods based on current educational research. We offer a diverse curriculum that allows students to individualize their own courses of studies and meet their objectives, needs, and interests. Morever, we seek to provide students with the skills and knowledge necessary to succeed at top universities worldwide. Location We're located near Migeum Station, which is just 20 minutes from Gangnam Station. MICA is surrounded by nature and there's a nearby lake. Just a station over from Migeum, you can check out Jeongja Cafe Street and take a walk or go bicycling by a stream.
