Job Description

1. Role and Responsibilities

MICA International Scholars, an internationally accredited school, is looking for a passionate art teacher to teach grades 1-12. As an art teacher, you will be responsible for teaching art basics to art theory and practice. The art teacher must be able to teach a variety of mediums such as drawing, painting, sculpture, 3-D, installation art, and multimedia, such as time-based projects.

 

Responsibilities

  • Teach students a variety of art mediums such as drawing, painting, 2-D, 3-D, sculpture, and multimedia, and more
  • Guide students through art projects and ensure that they are learning the best art practices and skills
  • Assist students in building creativity and problem-solving skills through art
  • Follow the textbooks and syllabi provided by the school to create a diverse curriculum and lesson plans for students
  • Prepare curriculum and lesson plans based on the U.S. CCSS
  • Ensure that students meet all learning standards laid out by the school
  • Grade assignments/projects and prepare student progress reports in a timely manner
  • Ensure that necessary art materials are prepared ahead of time
  • Attend and participate in faculty and staff meetings
  • Take part in PTCs (Parent-Teacher Conferences) and consult with parents regarding student progress and areas that students can improve upon

 

Please note: Candidates may be required to teach a couple of subject classes (based on the candidate's teaching ability) if the teaching hours for art classes do not meet 25 hours/week.

 

2. Qualified Candidates

Foreigners (F-2, F-4, F-5, and F-6 Visa Holders) and Korean Citizens

  • Candidates must hold a minimum of a bachelor degree from an accredited university and have their apostilled diploma on hand
  • Candidates must hold a federal level background check with a federal level apostille
  • Candidates must be able to teach classes in fluent English
  • Candidates must know technical art terms and be able to teach basic to advanced art concepts

 

Preferences

  • Candidates with teaching licenses are preferred
  • Candidates with previous art teaching experience at international schools are preferred
  • Candidates who are hard-working and able to adapt to a fast-paced school environment are preferred

 

3. Job Overview

  • Working Hours: M-F: 7:40 AM-4:40 PM
  • Lunch Time: 11:45 AM-12:40 PM
  • Teaching Hours: 25 hours per week
  • Class Length: 45 min/class
  • Students per Class: 8-12 Students

 

4. Salary

Negotiable, based on experience and qualifications

Insurance and Financial: Insurance and pension will be matched by the employer

Contract Completion Bonus: Provided upon completion of contract

Vacation: Paid, 8 Weeks+ including Korean National holidays and American holidays

  • Lunar New Year (1 week), Spring Break (1 week) + break in May + Easter break (1 day), Summer Vacation (3 weeks), Thanksgiving Break (2 days), Chuseok (1week), Winter Vacation (3 weeks)

Housing: Provided housing or housing allowance (for F-visa holders or candidates who have lived in the U.S. and/or Canada for over 10 years)

Transitioning from elementary to middle school, students are supported by professional educators and staff who tailor the curriculum based on their interests, academic skills, and standardized assessments. 3.  Based on the US Common Core State Standards, MICA strives to improve high school student learning using current teaching methods based on current educational research. We offer a diverse curriculum that allows students to individualize their own courses of studies and meet their objectives, needs, and interests. Morever, we seek to provide students with the skills and knowledge necessary to succeed at top universities worldwide. Location We're located near Migeum Station, which is just 20 minutes from Gangnam Station. MICA is surrounded by nature and there's a nearby lake. Just a station over from Migeum, you can check out Jeongja Cafe Street and take a walk or go bicycling by a stream.
