Job Description

1. Roles and Responsibilities

POLY Daejeon is looking for qualified teachers to serve as a kindergarten to middle school grade 9 English teacher. You will be teaching various lessons in English to students from ages 5 to grade 9. You will be teaching mainly kindergarten classes with some elementary classes in the afternoons.


POLY specializes in helping students who have lived abroad extensively and have advanced English levels. As a teacher, you will need to be a quick thinker and be able to facilitate critical discussions in class.


You will be responsible for the following: 

  • Plan, prepare, and deliver lessons
  • Prepare teaching materials ahead of time
  • Grade regular homework assignments
  • Prepare and create tests and examinations
  • Track and report students’ performance date and give feedback
  • Teach advanced English level kindergarten students ages 6-7 speaking, stories, arts and crafts, phonics, reading, and writing
  • Teach advanced English level elementary and middle school students grades 1-9 through speaking and writing, reading, grammar, and book discussion classes


2. Candidate Qualifications:

E-2 Visa Holders:

  • MUST be a citizen of the U.S., Canada, the U.K., Ireland, New Zealand, Australia, or South Africa
  • If you are applying from outside Korea, you MUST have a BA degree in Education or English
  • If you are applying from outside Korea, you MUST have a criminal background check with apostille and a copy of your university diploma with apostille READY TO GO

F-series Visa Holders:

  • We are currently taking applications from F-series visa holders as well
  • F-series visa holders must have their diploma apostilled and their nationwide criminal background check READY TO GO


3. Visa Sponsorships

  • We sponsor E-2 visas.


4. Working Conditions

Training Dates: 2/22-2/26/2021

Working Hours: M-F: 9 AM-7:30 PM

                             Actual working hours vary per year; currently teachers are only working from 9 AM-6:40 PM)

Teaching Hours: 31 hours/week

Lunch Time: 12-1 PM (Lunch will be provided)

Students per Class: 15 students max

Age Level: 5-13 years old


5. Salary and Benefits

Salary: From 2.4 million KRW (negotiable based on experience)

Insurance and Financial: Insurance and pension will be matched by employer

Contract Completion Bonus: Provided upon completion of the contract

Vacation: 24 days plus Korean national holidays

Housing Allowance: Studio housing or housing allowance provided

Airfare: 1-way airfare


6. Special Notice

COVID-19: Quarantine will be covered by the school or housing may be provided for the 14-days of quarantine. You may for paying for your food during the 14 days.
