Job Description

1. Role and Responsibilities

As an elementary homeroom teacher for grades 1-3 at Big Heart Christian School, you will be responsible for helping students learn not just English, but other subjects as well.


  • Teach English, science, math, history, and other subjects from a biblical perspective
  • Follow American curriculum and create supportive lesson plans
  • Grade homework and help students with understanding concepts
  • Update parents regarding student progress


2. Working Conditions

Start Date: August 12, 2020
Contract Period: August 12, 2020 - June 9, 2021

This is a 10-month contract; however, if you would like to work the summer camp, you can extend the contract.

Location: Yongin, Gyeonggi-do

Working Hours: 8:10 AM-4:20 PM

Class Time: 8:30 AM-3:50 PM


3. Salary and Benefits

Salary: Negotiable based on experience and qualifications

Insurance and Financial: insurance and pension are matched by the employer, one-way airfare will be reimbursed

Vacation: 12 Days + Korean National Holidays

Housing: Provided or Housing Allowance


4. Qualified Candidates

  • F-2, F-4, F-6 visa holders and Koreans are welcome to apply

5. Our Location

We're located in Yongin, which is right between Seoul and Suwon. We're very close to Jukjeon station and you can easily get up to Gangnam within half an hour. You can easily get over to Suwon to explore Hwaseong Fortress or check out Gwanggyo Lake Park.

At the request of several parents, church leaders in the area came together to create a school that would foster the talents of our students with the basis of our education program being the bible. Beginning with only 6 students and 2 teachers, BHCS has grown to not only have a more comprehensive faculty, but has also been approved for a range of AP subjects and has participated in many nationwide events.      Who We’re Looking For BHCS is looking for highly qualified candidates that can engage students in not just an academic education, but also a religious one.    The applicant must be a citizen of the USA, Canada, UK, Republic of Ireland, Australia, New Zealand, or South Africa   An applicant must have a four year degree from an accredited university   Must be a Christian   Teaching license or teaching experience preferred     Working at BHCS   Working Hours: Working hours are weekdays from8:10am - 4:20pm   Salary: Initial salary rates start at 2.1 million won a month (or roughly 25 million won a year), but can be negotiated based on experience.  Due to the low cost of living and prepaid housing, typically, teachers are able to save one million won a month.     Vacation: Every teacher gets 12 days for vacation which does not include all the national holidays (around 16 days) Korea has to offer.    Locations: Yongin, Gyeonggi-do    Health and Financial: Health insurance is covered, pension is matched 50/50, flight ticket reimbursed.    Housing: Every E-2 Visa holder gets a studio apartment complete with a washing machine, bed, stovetop, and refrigerator as well as plates and eating utensils. BHCS will arrange getting you into Seoul for training and settling you into your new home.     Curriculum      BHCS, as a Chrsitian school, puts the bible and faith at the center of its education. However, bible study is just one part of its diverse curriculum. BHCS was approved to teach AP courses in math, history, and science in 2015 and 2016 and has an active debate team. The education at BHCS is more focused on preparing well-rounded students for American universities instead of Korean universities. As such, students at our school are taught to be active members not only in the classroom, but also outside through various clubs and events BHCS hosts.
