Job Description

At Chase Academy, we focus on helping students develop critical thinking and logic skills through critical reading and writing. Currently, we’re looking for a fun and creative instructor to teach our elementary and middle school students literature. Not only will you be reading a variety of interesting novels throughout the year but you will also have a good amount of freedom in the classroom to incorporate your own projects and ideas.


Unlike students at other academies, Chase Academy students are motivated to come because they want to learn, and you will be able to impact their lives and help them chase their dreams. Our small class sizes allow you to build personal relationships with the students and initiate hands-on activities.


Before coming to class, students read the assigned literature and begin thinking about the author, the author’s purpose behind the story, and what can be learned. Similar to a Q&A-based discussion, literature classes are guided by the instructor to help students develop deeper thinking skills and opinions.


As a literature instructor, you will gain valuable teaching experience abroad to further your career and also work with a team of great colleagues. Upon completion of a one-year contract with Chase Academy, instructors have the opportunity to continue with the company or become managers at our other branches.

Job Overview


Students: Elementary-Middle School

Class Size: Up to 8 Students/Class

Weekly Working Hours: 40 Hours

Weekly Teaching/In-Class Hours: 25 Hours

Working Time: Mon-Fri, 2-10 PM (may vary during public school vacation periods)

Location: Jeju


Candidate Requirements


The right candidate will be an independent and imaginative instructor who loves reading and a variety of books. Qualified candidates can also guide students in discussions about various topics.


We’re looking for someone who:


  • Is from one of the following countries: USA, UK, or Canada

  • Is a native English speaker

  • Has a Bachelor’s degree in Humanities

  • Can dedicate 1 year to working with us

  • Communicates clearly in speaking and writing

  • Can guide discussions and help students build logic and critical thinking skills

  • Is enthusiastic about working with young learners

  • Has an understanding of college entrance exams and essays, i.e. the SAT and ACT


Responsibilities and Duties


  • Preparation and planning for instructing assigned classes in accordance with course objectives

  • Teaching all assigned classes

  • Prompt and thorough correction of student work assignments

  • Writing comments and report cards regarding student performance
