Samsung Chicken (nothing to do with giant corporation Samsung) is an institution of Anam-dong, with a tradition spanning over 35 years. It's long been a favorite of students from nearby Korea University and attracts people from all over the city. Since it opened in Anam-dong, it's expanded to two more locations on the same street, as well as other areas around Seoul. But the original restaurant, next to Anam Ogeori, attracts the most clientele. It's frequented by numerous student clubs and organizations from Korea University and especially crowded with students looking to have a few beers with their friends after the end of a grueling week of classes on Friday nights. But generally, you'll have no problem finding a table for you and your company.
What brings people to Samsung Chicken is its savory garlic chicken, dripping with sweet, caramelized garlic sauce. It's Samsung Chicken's signature dish. Even those who don't like garlic chicken will find themselves plowing through an order of it. Both regular chicken and boneless chicken (순살) are available, with boneless actually costing 1,000 won less than normal chicken, a rarity in most chicken restaurants. A 500cc glass of beer will only cost you 3,000 won, making this a great place to have chimaek on the cheap.
