Korea's First Cable Car

Namsan Cable Car

남산 케이블카

Opened in 1962, Namsan Cable Car became the first cable car in Korea, connecting the base of Namsan Mountain with Namsan Tower. The cable car is the safest, fastest, and most convenient way up to the top, with over 50,000 people - residents and tourists alike - using it every month.

The total length of the cable line from the lower platform to the peak of Namsan is 605 meters and it takes about three minutes to reach the top. Ascending from the northern end of Namsan Mountain’s base, near Myeong-dong Station, the cable car provides breathtaking views of the Seoul cityscape as it makes it way up to the tower. Namsan Cable Car became one of the top attractions in Seoul and an iconic romantic spot after featuring in the hit Korean drama "Boys Over Flowers", where the main characters found themselves locked inside, forcing them to spend the whole night together in the freezing cold.

Enjoy Namsan Cable Car 365 days a year!

Namsan Cable Car operates from 10:00 to 23:00 all year long. Visit us before noon if you prefer a quieter experience as there are generally fewer passengers. Visit us at night if you would like to see the gorgeous lights of Seoul. Tickets cannot be reserved in advance and must be bought on site. Waiting times to ride the cable car may be longer on weekends and holidays.
