Better Than Beef

The motto of Better than Beef is “What's not familiar may be awkward, but we won’t hesitate to start something new.” This restaurant has been featured on nine different TV shows because of its unique menu. It does endless experiments and research to create unique and fun menu items such as ricotta cheese rice wine or samgyeopsal pasta. The pork used in the dishes goes through a three-step maturing process and is literally ‘better than beef', thus the name. 


The chef of Better than Beef, Yoo Sung-Ho, has been running specialty samgyeopsal restaurants for over a decade now but wanted to create more challenging types of fusion food, bringing a heavy European influence into the concept of Better than Beef, in both its taste and interior. Chef Yoo envisions food as art and has no interest in turning Better Than Beef into a franchise, instead wanting it to become a source of inspiration for diners and also develop into a space for art exhibitions and performances.
