Korean Cherry Blossoms: When and Where to find them?

 

If you are planning to visit Korea during the Spring Season, then it is definitely worth having a look at Korea's Cherry Blossoms.

 

During this season, there are spring festivals, and cherry blossom festivals all over the country, so no matter which district you go, you will definitely catch them!

 

There's only a short, temporary blooming period, so don't be too late!

 Chuncheon: ~ April 7th Onwards
 Gangneung: ~ April 5th Onwards
 Cheongju: ~ April 6th Onwards
 Daejeon: ~ April 4th Onwards
 Jeonju: ~ April 4th Onwards
Gwangju ‌~ April 1st Onwards
‌Jeju Island ~March 25th Onwards
‌Busan ~March 28th Onwards

Cherry Blossoms wither and fall during the end of Spring, and the start of Summer season, normally around mid to end of May

Yeouido Spring Flower Festival:

Near, the Han River Park, and within the heart of Seoul, Yeouido is famous for its attraction of nearly 2,000 cherry blossom trees. Along the road, walking underneath these trees will bring you an experience surrounded by pink, white and cherry blossom beauty.

Enjoy street food and give the Han River park a visit as well while you're watching the flowers!


 

Seokchon Lake Spring Festival

Seokchon Lake Park, is another famous attraction also in the heart of Seoul in Jamsil. It is iconic as you can see a ring of white and pink if you view the park from above.

You can also visit attractions such as Lotte World or Lotte Tower which only a few minutes away

Jinhae Gunhangje Festival

This festival first began as a memorial, to honor Admiral Yi Sun-Sin and has now grown to become a festival loved by everyone. The most beautiful attraction is Yeojwacheon, where the harmony of the stream with cherry blossoms on each side, at the heart of the city is definitely a wonderful sight to treasure. 

 

Gangneung Cherry Blossom Festival

Located near Pyeongchang, Gangneung hosts the Gyeongpo Cherry Blossom Festival around Mid-April. Much like Seokchon Lake and the Cherry Blossom Festival there, Gyeongpo Lake is much larger with the same view of surrounding pink and white.

 

Daegu E-World Cherry Blossom Festival

Daegu holds the E-World Starlight Cherry Blossom Festival around end of March. Lit with LED lights, E-World features three times more cherry blossom trees than Yeouido. It is enjoyable even during night, due to the harmony of the pink blossoms along with the lights. There are various food trucks, photo zones and have a visit to Daegu E-World, featuring rides and attractions!
