Opened all the way back in 1973, Seoul Children’s Grand Park is packed with fun activities and facilities for children and their families to enjoy, including a zoo, botanical garden, and an amusement park. The park takes up over 50㎢ of land, the majority of which is green space, and is located between two subway stations, making it an easy day out for the whole family.
One of the most popular attractions at Seoul Children’s Grand Park is the Seoul Zoo, which is open to the public all year round. It’s home to a wide variety of animals from all across the world, divided into six zones; Small Animal Village, Monkey Village, Elephant Zone, Predator Village, Herbivore Village, and the Penguin Village. Get a glimpse of the ferocious lions, watch the seals glide elegantly through the water, or feed the adorable black goats, Seoul Zoo is sure to keep the kids fascinated and occupied. Right next to the zoo is the park’s massive Greenhouse Botanical Garden, an immaculate glass structure housing over 1,200 different types of plants and fauna, surrounded by lush green trees. The botanical garden houses massive tropical trees and foliage that can’t be found anywhere else in the city, or anywhere else in the country for that matter. Just a short walk northwest of the botanical garden is the Theme Garden, an outdoor flower garden bursting with vibrant colors from all different types of flowers, including a large rose garden.
Situated towards Achasan Station is the amusement park, which boasts 25 kid-friendly rides, ranging from the easygoing Dino-Train ride to the wild Family Coaster, all available at an affordable price. There are also plenty of sports facilities dotted around the park, including basketball courts, soccer fields, and tennis courts, as well as playgrounds, a small water park, and a massive fountain that puts on a special music and light show.
