If you're curious to know your future but don't feel comfortable seeing a traditional Korean fortune teller, you should definitely drop by Eros on your trip to Seoul. One of the first Fortunetelling Cafés to open in Korea, around 120 people of all age, gender and nationality visit Eros daily. You can sit in a comfortable chair and have a relaxed conversation with a fortune teller over a warm cup of tea. With English and Japanese translation services available, it's a popular place amongst foreign students at Ewha Woman's University.
Before going to this cafe, it's important to understand a bit about Korean fortunetelling, or saju. Saju is based on a popular East Asian notion that all human beings are part of the flow of the universe. Saju refers to the 'four pillars of destiny'; the year, month, day. and time of birth. The eight Chinese characters used in fortune telling are derived from these four pillars and are used to foresee your relationship, marriage, finances, career, wealth, and health for the year. Some of the most popular types of fortune telling at Eros are:
-Gonghap-saju (종합사주), 10,000 won: Foretelling your relationships, marriage, financial, career, wealth, and health.
-Saju-gunghap (사주궁합),10,000 won: A detailed fortune of your future relationships and marriage.
-Gonghap-tarot (종합타로), 10,000 won: Foretelling your relationships, marriage, business, career, wealth, and health through tarot cards.
Also, if you visit again within the same year, you can get a free re-counsel (you have to bring the paper issued from your first counsel with you)!
