Located along the banks of the Han River in Ttukseom in the eastern part of the city, Seoul Forest is the third-largest park in Seoul, providing nearly 6㎢ of welcome green space in the heart of one of the world’s most densely populated cities. Initially the site of a water treatment plant, then later a sports park, Seoul Forest boasts a wide range of scenic natural areas and facilities that make it arguably the most popular park in the whole city.
There are a wide variety of eco-friendly, natural attractions, such as the Insect Garden, Butterfly Garden, and Eco Forest, which is preserved and kept for deer and other wild animals. The park’s Family Yard is a wide open meadow perfect for picnics, while tree-lined walking paths provide a nice peaceful setting for a casual walkabout. There are even sports facilities towards the northern end of the park, including basketball, tennis, badminton, and futsal courts.
