It’s easy to miss Seendosi, located right down the street from the Cheonggyecheon stream near Euljiro 3-ga Station, on the top floor of an old decrepit brick building. An old worn-out sign right above the entrance to the building, taken from the previous occupant, bears this bar/studio space’s name. Opened in 2014 by two local artists, Seendosi has emerged as a hotspot for young creatives in Seoul, with its large cocktail menu, decent beer selection, and regular parties, concerts, and movie screenings. Its interior is a mish-mash of posters of various events held at Seendosi, soft, colorful fluorescent lighting, plants, and an eclectic mix of furniture. There’s a terrace as well as a rooftop space with some seats and tables, and a wonderful view of the surrounding area.
Seendosi also regularly hosts parties and concerts, with the bar’s furniture cleared out to make way for DJs and bands. This includes the monthly No Club party series hosted by the No Music crew, with DJs spinning a diverse array of music, ranging from Baltimore Club to 60’s Southeast Asian Psych Pop to Trot, as well as album release showcases for many indie bands and artists. The floor below the bar area is home to Seendosi’s studio space, from which posters, bags, t-shirts, and even cassette tapes are designed and produced.
