Located on the 2nd floor of an unassuming white tile building right above a bar, Cosmos Wholesale hosts a wide range of vintage goods, from clothing and records to magazines and various collectibles, carefully curated and organized to form a vibrant, colorful interior design. The shop stocks anything from rare Japanese records to Dragonball-Z figurines to old Korean VHS movies, a sort of throwback to yesteryear for those who have a fascination with anything vintage or seek a nostalgic escape. Five friends, each of whom is influential in Seoul’s various underground subcultures, own the store and take turns keeping shop. In-store performances are occasionally held, usually with local DJs, although foreign artists have performed at Cosmos Wholesale as well.
The most impressive section of Cosmos Wholesale’s store is its vinyl collection, comprised of a variety of records ranging from 90’s K-Pop to obscure Southeast Asian group sounds and Japanese City Pop. Quite a few rare records can be found here, although they’ll cost you a pretty penny. If you’re feeling a bit overwhelmed by the sheer number of products for sale, you can order a beverage or tea from the small kitchen in the back and take a breather on their couch.
