Vinyl records have been making a strong comeback over the past decade or so, and Korea has slowly but surely begun to catch up to this worldwide trend, with a handful of record stores popping up across Seoul. One of the most interesting of these record shops in Seoul is Clique Records, which specializes in more obscure electronic and techno records, as well as a wide variety of other genres. Clique Records is most definitely a DJ’s space, with most of the store’s clientele consisting of local and international DJs looking to score some rare vinyl to spin during their next set. Each record’s price sticker has some handwritten notes about the style of music and sometimes recommended tracks to help customers out, and record players are available for anyone who wants to sample the records in stock. The crew at Clique Records also throws small parties at their cafe/bar located across the street called the Edge, spinning eclectic mixes of a variety of genres that can’t be heard anywhere else in the city.
