Seoul Rose Festival is held annually every May in the northeastern district of Jungnang, where thousands of roses blossom to form a 5.15km-long rose tunnel along the Jungnang Stream and tons of activities and performances take place. It's a great place for couples and families to take in the beauty of so many roses and enjoy an action-packed day filled with fun activities together. There are a number of photo zones for couples to take pictures, and at night time the rose tunnel is lit up with various lighting effects to maximize the beauty of the roses. There's a wide range of performances, from traditional folk to soft ballads, to even hip-hop.
The festival kicks off on a Friday with a number of community events, such as the Rose Parade through the rose tunnel, which features a military marching band, a singing contest, and performances by a number of pop artists. The next day has a Couple's Day theme, with an emphasis on music. There's a hanbok fashion show, followed by numerous folk performances by groups from around the world, a silent disco, and an interesting mix of hip-hop and trot performances. The final day features more trot music, classical music performances, a rose dinner for couples and families, and a fireworks and laser show to bring the festival to an end. There are also activities happening throughout the two weeks surrounding the festival along the Jungang Stream, such as live performances by local musicians, a market, a marathon, exhibitions, and plenty of food trucks.
