Located in the center of the city, just a short distance from the bus terminal, is Sokcho Beach in the small coastal city of Sokcho in the northeast Gangwon-do province. This beach is incredibly popular amongst tourists from Seoul because it's so easy to get to; just take a two and a half hour bus ride from Dong Seoul Terminal, and the beach is just a ten-minute walk from Sokcho Bus Terminal. The beach is about two kilometers long, but only a quarter of this is open to the public due to past incidents of North Korean spies attempting to infiltrate South Korea through beaches along the Gangwon-do coast, including Sokcho Beach.
Nevertheless, Sokcho Beach is incredibly scenic, with clear water and white sand, and pine forests dotting the landscape. The beach boasts a ton of facilities too, including a volleyball, futsal, and foot volleyball court, an outdoor stage, and a tourist information center. There's also a camping ground on site, as well as showers and changing rooms. It gets quite packed during the summer, but you can still fully enjoy what Sokcho Beach has to offer at any time of the year.
