Ulsan is known as a heavy industrial city; What was once a small fishing port was transformed into an international industrial powerhouse by Hyundai, who built the largest shipyard and car manufacturing plant in the world in the city. Considering much of the city's identity is based on its heavy industry, it's hard to fathom that it would also be home to the incredibly beautiful Jinha Beach. Located on the southern outskirts of the city, far from the city center and the industrial sites to its north, Jinha beach stretches about one kilometer and has a width of about 300 meters, and attracts many locals to its charming shore.
Jinha Beach boasts many of the usual facilities; shower stalls, changing rooms, a camping site, parasol rentals, and plenty of restaurants in the surrounding area. But what makes Jinha Beach stand out is the small island right off of its shore known as Myoungsun Island, which roughly translates as 'the island where immortals came down to play.’ This island is lit up at night and provides some very picturesque shots during sunset. It's easily accessible by a short walk through shallow water. There's a campground on the southern end of the beach, hidden amongst pine trees, as well as plenty of hotels, motels, and inns for those looking for a more comfortable place to stay.
