Bangjukpo Beach is a small peaceful, secluded stretch of white sand on Yeosu's Dolsando Island surrounded by a 200-year old pine forest and some great hiking trails. It's an incredibly calm and serene place, located in a small village and forms part of a cove, so the water is shallow and the waves are very gentle, making this a great spot for family outings with small children. Most of the beach's visitors are from the local and surrounding areas, a far cry from the droves of tourists at most east coast beaches coming from the Seoul metropolitan area during the summer.
The facilities around the beach are pretty minimal, although there are shower facilities and restrooms, as well as a campground for tents and RVs. There are also restaurants selling fresh seafood around the area along with quite a few pensions and inns to stay at. Not far away is the Buddhist temple Hyangiram, situated on the top of a cliff and a famous spot for viewing the sunrise.
