Busan's Haeundae Beach is by far the most famous beach in all of Korea, drawing hundreds of thousands of visitors every summer to its 1.5km long sandy beach with an incredible urban backdrop that's easily accessible by public transportation from downtown Busan. All summer long there are numerous events and festivals going on in Haeundae Beach, such as the Busan Sea Festival which hosts numerous performances by famous DJs, rappers, and K-Pop stars. There's also an aquarium, art galleries, seawater hot springs, a convention center, as well as numerous marine leisure activities.
During the day the beach is packed with swimmers, with the water shallow enough that even children can play in the water without any concern. But come night time many young people descend on the beach to drink alcohol with their friends and mingle with other people, while clubs and bars in the area are packed with partygoers, making this one of Korea's major hotspots during the summer. If you're not the partying type, then head over to Haeundae Market, located just a few blocks from the beach, which is home to a number of great seafood restaurants and more lowkey, calm cafes and makgeolli houses.
As Haeundae Beach and the surrounding district have become more famous both in Korea and abroad, the district office decided to designate the area a special tourist zone aimed at foreign tourists to make their lives a bit easier while they stay in Haeundae. You can find an interpretation center, resort condominiums, family hotel, tourist hotel, a tourist restaurant, souvenir shop, and a nightlife restaurant exclusively for foreigners. More information about these facilities can be found at the Haeundae Tourist Information Center located on Haeundae Beach, at 264 Haeundaehaebyeon-ro, U 1(il)-dong, Haeundae, Busan.
