Myeongdong Yeongyang Saenteo translates into English as Myeongdong Nutrition Center, but it doesn't exactly serve healthy, nutritious food; rather its specialty is two types of chicken dishes, crispy electric-roasted rotisserie chicken and traditional samgyetang. This restaurant has been in business since the 1960's, and in the summer of 2017, it was featured on the famous TV program, Suyomisikhwe, one of Korea's most popular food programs.
It's very hard to miss Myeongdong Nutrition Center. Not many places in Myeongdong have a large rotisserie oven right in their window front roasting dozens of chickens. The rotisserie chicken has a very thin, crisp skin, is not too oily, and has incredibly juicy meat. It's this recipe that's kept Myeongdong Nutrition Center in business for so many years. Besides rotisserie chicken, they also serve a good hearty bowl of samgyetang, a traditional Korean chicken soup dish, that's a much healthier option than the rotisserie or fried chicken and perfect on a cold day.
