Seoul presents an amazing mix of modern architecture and nature that can be enjoyed throughout the year. Sky Park, located near the World Cup Stadium in Mapo-gu, is a good example of the evolution the city underwent in the last decade. In the late-1970's, the area was used as an industrial landfill that was later incorporated into a series of parks surrounding the stadium under the name of World Cup Park. Sky (Haneul) Park is one of the five ecological parks, including Peace (Pyeonghwa) Park, Sunset (Noeul) Park, Nanjicheon Park and Hangang Riverside Park, which together form the World Cup Park. As all the parks are interconnected, it is a pleasant walk to visit and enjoy the totally different atmosphere of each zone.
