L'atelier Interactive Art Museum

An Interactive Look at the 19th Century's Greatest Painters

Located on the 11th floor of Hyundai City Outlet in the shopping mecca of Dongdaemun, L’atelier is an interactive museum that transports guests into the streets of 19th-century France, with scenes inspired by famous Impressionist painters, such as Monet, Van Gogh, and Edouard Leon Cortes. Paintings are brought to life through interactive projections, allowing visitors to immerse themselves in the artwork and lives of these incredibly influential painters. The museum is divided into six sections. The first section, located by the ticket office, is the L’atelier Art Museum, which displays reproductions of famous Impressionist paintings by the likes of Van Gogh, Cezanne, and Monet.     The remaining five sections each depict a different scene from 19th-century France based upon the work of the era’s most famous impressionist painters. Each of these sections has been intricately designed, with cobblestone floors, wooden signage, and even people projected inside the buildings going about their day, creating a hyper-realistic setting that makes you feel like you have truly stepped back in time. You can relax in chairs with pillows inspired by Van Gogh’s “The Bedroom”, take a walk in Monet’s garden as it was depicted in “Water Lilies and Japanese Bridge”, or stroll through the streets of Paris as depicted in the paintings of Edouard Leon Cortes. You can even talk to the people inside the paintings.    Two performances are also shown to guests; a solo musical called “Van Gogh’s Dream” that depicts Vincent van Gogh’s life and “X-File on Masterpieces”, a hologram talk show in which an actor playing the role of famous 19th-century writer Emile Zola delves into van Gogh’s death. The museum is nearly all in Korean, however, available English-language audio devices provide a ton of useful information about the museum’s exhibitions and translate the performances. Towards the end of the museum is a gorgeous French-style cafe, as well as a gift shop selling an assortment of artsy goods.         L'atelier Attractions Shop & Eat Tickets L’atelier Art Museum Enjoy paintings by a number of famous Impressionist painters such as  Manet, Monet, Renoir, Van Gogh, Gauguin, and Cézanne.   Place du Tertre The creative atmosphere of Paris - Place du Tertre on a crisp fall day in the 19th century, beautifully imbued with autumn leaves and overflowing with wondrous works of art.    Montmartre This is the district where poor artists mass for their artistic pursuits.
