Now known for historical sites and ginseng, Ganghwa Island once was a mecca of Korea’s textile industry.

 

 
Sochang Experience Center was built in 1938 as a dye fabric factory.  After remodeling in 2016 it was adapted for a diverse cultural experience space, where guests can listen about the history of the reinforced textile industry, and join hands-on activities, such as making handkerchiefs. The center still continues to make natural cotton fabrics with traditional methods.
 
 
You will design and make one handkerchief using colorful stamps and markers. Create your own unique souvenir!

Ganghwa Tourist Platform is a tourist information center that holds various attractions and events for tourists. It tells the story of the island and its culture giving guests an opportunity to enjoy fun thematic experiences that use virtual reality technology.
 
You will be able to see Ganghwa Island from a bird's eye view with exciting VR paragliding experience.
 
Then, you will meet the history of Goryeo kingdom, one of the most important historical kingdoms of Korea. You will also have a chance to try on a beautiful Goryeo style hanbok.

Ganghwa Anglican Church

Consecrated in 1900, Ganghwa Anglican Church is the first hanok-style church in Korea. The two-story rectangular building was built using the traditional Korean architecture style on the outside while its interior follows a Western basilica style. The blend of two very different styles accentuates the beauty of harmony and Korean tradition.

Ganghwa Peace Observatory

Pyeonghwa (Peace) Observatory is the observatory located the nearest, only 2.3 km from North Korea. It is the best place to observe North Korean lands with the naked eye. The observatory is also equipped with binoculars that guests can use for a close-up view. A large screen facility makes it possible to observe the vivid scenery of North Korea through video even on cloudy days.

Turnip is a specialty of Ganghwa Island and has been cultivated there for over a thousand years. Make turnip kimchi yourself and take as much as 1 kg of it home!

Visit the traditional market, full of local specialties. Roam amongst fresh fruits, vegetables, meat, and fisheries. Make sure to stop by hwamunseok stalls, packed with beautiful wicker products, unique to the region.

Luge Ride

Luges are specially designed carts that do not have an engine or any other power system and instead use the slope and gravity to zoom down. The track has two courses, the ocean course and valley one. Although it is not too steep and rather gentle, it still allows you to feel the speed and thrill. It is a perfect leisure sport for all ages.

  • For Pyeonghwa Observatory Course: Your passport will be needed to confirm your identity at the military check points.
  • For Pyeonghwa Observatory Course: For Korean nationals, your ID with your citizen registration number will be required.

  • Adult and child prices are the same.
  • Children under the age of 3 can participate for free provided they do not occupy an additional bus seat. Guardian must present valid ID or documentation with proof of age.
  • Tour itinerary is subject to change due to traffic conditions or other circumstances.

  • No refund: For cancelations or changes made less than 6 days before the reserved tour time.
  • If the minimum number of people is not met for the trip (minimum of 4 people), then full refunds will be provided.
  • Tour operates per normal even if it rains or snows.
  • Free date change or cancellation permitted only in case of government-issued warning for natural disaster.
