This Michelin-rated restaurant specializes in a dish called jjukkumi, a species of small, bite-sized octopus marinated in a sweet and spicy yangnyeom sauce and grilled. Opened back in 1976, Chungmuro Jjukkumi Bulgogi was the first restaurant to add bulgogi to the dish, setting off a nationwide trend. Large portions are given, which are then grilled over charcoal, giving the jjukkumi a nice smoky flavor. Delicious pen shell scallops are also available to order either raw or mixed and marinated with the jjukkumi to be grilled.
The atmosphere here is on the lively side, with many office workers grabbing dinner with their colleagues and downing copious amounts of alcohol. The restaurant is located just a short walk from the major shopping district of Myeongdong and not far from the base of Namsan, so be sure to check this spot out during your stay in Seoul.
