Technique 1- Re-title the QBWUSER.INI file

 

  1. Hold the Windows key + E on your keyboard.
  2. This will open the My Computer window on your screen.
  3. Move to the Organize button.
  4. From the drop-down menu, select the “Folder and search options.”
  5. Go to the View button.
  6. Hover over the Advanced Settings.
  7. Click on Hidden Files and Folders.
  8. Now, select the Show Hidden Files and Folders option.
  9. Hit the OK button.
  10. In the search bar, navigate to C:\ Documents\ username\ Local Settings\ Application Data\     Intuit\ QuickBooks(year).
  11. In the following screen, locate the QBWUSER.INI file.
  12. Click right and select Rename.
  13. Add .OLD extension to the name of the file so that it looks like QBWUSER.INI.OLD.
  14. Open QuickBooks to check if the issue has been resolved.

Technique 2- Switch the Location of the Company File

 

  1. Press and hold the Windows key + R.
  2. In the My Computer window, you need to navigate to the screen where the file with .qbw     extension is stored. 
  3. Now, move to the drive where the file is stored.
  4. After locating the company file, click right on it and select Copy.
  5. You must now create a new folder in C: drive.
  6. Name the folder as QuickBooks Test Folder.
  7. Open the folder and click right.
  8. Select Paste to switch the location of the company file.
  9. Access QuickBooks while holding the Ctrl key.
  10. Tap on Open or Restore an Existing Company.
  11. Choose your company file from the new folder that you created. The error should be resolved by now.
