2024 aluminum is an aluminum alloy, with copper as a main alloying ingredient, applied by 0.3% – 1% Mn, 1.2% – 1.8% Mg, 0.1% Cr and 0.25% Zn. In certain instances, Si, Ti and Fe may also be present. Aluminum 2024 can be divided according to temperature into 2024-O, 2024-T3, 2024-T4, 2024-T5 and 2024-T351. And the mechanical characteristics of these 2024 alloys which vary by material temperature.

Due to its high strength and fatigue resistance, 2024 is commonly used for aircraft parts, rivets, metal frames, truck wheels, squirrel goods, etc. 2024 is used for rating liquid penetrating experiments beyond standard temperature ranges.
