Program and Activity

|
Incheon English Village runs its own differentiated and unique English learning program underlying the concept of 'learning from experience'. In Incheon English Village students from 5th-6th grade in elementary school attend various kinds of classes and experience 32 different situations by using only English. The program of Incheon English Village was developed based on Multi Intelligence Theory, Communicative Language Teaching, Project Focused Classes and Use of Authentic Language. Andfocusing on these main ideas the program is composed with four different sections; Everyday Life Experience, Future Job Experience, Culture Experience, and Nature Experience. The participants get to learn English through this great program in the environment modeled after cities of English Speaking Countries. |

Everyday Life Experience program gives the students an opportunity to experience everyday life of the Americans. They visit the hospital, post office, hotel, movie theater, bank, restaurant, and convenientstore and even take an airplane and use proper English required in each place located in the village. They learn expressions commonly used in each place and the rules which are quite different from the ones in Korean society. Through these experiences we expect the students to get an idea of how foreign countries are like even without visiting there, and moreoverwe hope they understand other culture to become the real global citizens. |

Students who are in between 5th and 6thgrade start to picture their future with career. In English Village students actually get a chance to have their career that they have dreamed of through the Job Experience program. The program is composed with five different job fields including science, architecture, art, music, and media, and each student gets to choose the field that they want to be in the most. The core of Job Experience Program is that it's run in project-based. In the project-based class students begin with covering the introduction of job, and towards the end they do the group work and create a final product related to the job. Through this program studentsnot only learn the English words and expressions used in the job but also learn to cooperate with others and feel the sense of achievement. |

The most important part in teaching English is to let the students understand the culture of foreign countries. Incheon English Village realizes the importance of recognizing the cultural difference and gives the students an opportunity to experience the core of other culture. We coordinate service-learning programs with UNICEF to teach the students to help other friends in poverty. Also, the students attend cooking class to learn and taste food, and see the exhibition of traditional goods from other countries. In Culture Experience program students not only learn about other culture but also learn to spread Korean culture to foreigners. Since most of the participants live in Incheon thereis a class where students become Incheon ambassadorand acquaint Incheon to others. The point of this class is to make students appreciate our culture. |

Incheon English Village is located near the natural habitat where students can study English along with the beautiful nature. The students learn about different kinds of plants and their names in English. Also, they study about expressions related to weather or natural phenomenon. The Nature Experience Program gives students an opportunity to be close to nature and experience the greatness of the nature. |
