General

The Gocheok Sky Dome(고척 스카이 돔) is a domed baseball stadium located in Gocheok-dong, Seoul, South Korea. It is the home ballpark for the Nexen Heroes. Though the construction of the dome has begun from the complaints from residents near the ex-Nexen ground ballpark, Mokdong baseball stadium, it serves as a fair baseball park to this date. The stadium is primarily used for baseball and has a capacity for 17,000 spectators for baseball games. The stadium replaced Dongdaemun Baseball Stadium and opened on 15 September 2015. It also serves as a concert venue, with a capacity for around 22,000 spectators. It is the first domed baseball stadium for Korea. It attracts many baseball fans when the baseball season starts. The traffic near the park gets real bad from start of the baseball season to the end, because the public transportation of the dome only include the Subway Line 1, whereas the most of the baseball fans in Seoul use the Line 2. However, it has a plenty of advantage because there are less residents near the ballpark than the Mokdong stadium, and the parking space much larger than that of Mokdong.
