Job Description:
Title: Project Manager / Editor
Department: Content Development
Reports to: Manager of Content Development Department
Duties:
  • Plan and develop educational material able to achieve specific educational results;
  • Write material that is specifically aimed and leveled for certain age groups and language abilities;
  • Design and create tests meant to perfectly replicate recognized standardized tests such as TOEIC and TOEFL iBT tests;
  • Design exams that test students’ understanding and comprehension of already created materials;
  • Content edit, proofread, and spell check materials owned and being created by Compass;
  • Supervise the creation of materials by freelance contractors;
  • Make sure the creation of books and material is on time and on budget;
  • Create teacher's guides and ‘How to use this book’ materials for books;
  • Prepare presentations for sales team explaining new releases and how to use and market them;
  • Work with digital team to develop online materials for all new releases and existing titles;
  • Support other content development related duties.
Qualifications of Ideal Candidate:
Education and experience
  • A Bachelor’s Degree or higher related to English or education
  • Minimum 3 years full-time professional experience related to publishing
  • TESOL/ CELTA or other ESL/EFL training, an asset
  • Experience teaching ESL or EFL to different levels and age groups
Skills and abilities
  • Exceptional English reading, writing, and listening skills
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Familiarity with editing, proofreading, and publishing conventions
  • Familiarity with TESOL methods and terminology
Personal attributes
  • Highly organized and detail oriented
  • Ability to multi-task and manage several projects at a time
  • Ability to both receive and give constructive feedback
  • Ability to work in a team environment; excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Commitment to personal and professional development with long-term vision and aspirations within the ELT media industry
Period of Employment: Initially a one- to two-year contract with review period.  Since there is training and a high learning curve for this position, we prefer someone who wishes to work for the organization over the long term.
Salary Range: Competitive compensation package commensurate with experience
Vacation Days: 15 days of paid personal leave per year and Korean public holidays
Working Hours: 9 a.m.- 6 p.m. (Lunch is provided from 12 to 1.)
Pension: Paid in accordance with Korean law
Health Insurance: Provided in accordance with Korean law
Severance Pay: One month’s salary earned per year of employment
 
Start Date: Immediately (The start date is flexible for the right candidate.)
